Directions
- HEAT oil in a large Dutch oven until hot but not smoking. Sprinkle flour over oil and whisk together until well blended.
- ADD butter and reduce heat to medium. Continue cooking, stirring constantly, until mixture reaches a dark brown color.
- PLACE broth, water, frozen vegetables, garlic powder, Creole seasoning and sausage in the pot. Bring to a boil and cook for 3 minutes.
- REDUCE heat to simmer for 20 minutes. Add rice and cook an additional 5-10 minutes.
